Dominic Kwok

Hello! I'm Dom.

I have been building Heron as CTO since April 2020, alongside my co-founders Jamie and Johannes.

I like solving ambiguous, difficult problems with quantitative and structured reasoning. That led me from physics / quantum computing at Yale (I did research under Michel Devoret, 2025 Physics Nobel Prize winner), to applied data science in consulting, to data science and product at Spotify, Facebook and Revolut.

I was born in Hong Kong and it's still home: my parents and grandparents live there, and I try to get back every year. I spent 10 years on the East Coast for high school, college and work, then 8 in London, UK, and arrived in NYC to start the Heron US office in January 2024.

I live in Brooklyn with my wife Alison. She's a British architect by training and runs Blue Pomelo Studios, an interior design & custom furniture studio based in Gowanus, Brooklyn. I sometimes help sweep the studio floors.

Outside of work I love aquatic sports (water polo with the Brooklyn Wets, swimming with the Chelsea Piers masters team, Rockaway surfing), eating / Beli adventures, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
